My name is Dorjan Elezi and I live in the administrative unit of Velabisht. I finished high school and I am currently unemployed.I used to work as a mechanic and waiter, until a new opportunity came up in Berat: The series of seminars for youth in reception and waiters. I received the information about this training through the social networks, so I took this great opportunity and registered at RDA Berat for the reception training. I did participate in the training seminar for reception techniques organized by RDA Berat with the support of the GIZ Albania, at “VET TOURISM HOSPITALITY”  Program.

Reception training organized by RDA Berat, funded by GIZ Albania was very interesting and helpful to me. It had lots of good impressions to me because I learned many important techniques and things that are needed for this job position.

The reception training helped me a lot in terms of several skills and competences acquired to be a professional receptionist. Some of the techniques, skills and competences included: managing bad situations/ complaints, how to communicate on the phone and face to face with the client, check in / check out procedures, coordinating with other departments such as housekeeping/ maintenance, prepare clients folio, selling techniques, etc

All these techniques/ procedures will be a very important part for my employment in the future, and I will continue to be in touch with RDA Berat regarding the possibility of employment in any of the Berat  accommodation structures.

I appreciate the NGO RDA Berat with gratitude for their work to engaging the youth in Berat for job placement in several tourism businesses.

The tourism potential of Albania is no longer a secret, but work remains to improve the quality of tourist services, upgrade the country’s tourist infrastructure, and establish Albania as a true niche destination. The growth of the tourism sector, and the continued capacity development of tourism service providers, has implications that reach far beyond providing visitors with a pleasant experience. Micro, small and medium enterprises are the driving force for Albania’s economic growth and job creation.

As such, the RDA Berat through  “VET TOURISM HOSPITALITY” GIZ Program ,started a series of seminars focusing in the reception techniques and other instruments for young people, so that they would find opportunities for job positions in the accommodation structures of Berat.
